Portugal did not stop Spanish turnaround

The Portuguese team made good replica in the northern fields of Quinta do Fojo and Citygolf but ends up losing to its Spanish counterpart, who was very strong in the matches of singles winning by 7-5

Spain maintained today the trophy in the Iberian Match of Pitch & Putt, defeating Portugal by 7-5, in the sum of the 12 matches played this weekend in Quinta do Fojo, in Vila Nova de Gaia, and in Citygolf, Porto .

After finishing six Saturday matches (3 in fourball, 3 in foursomes), in Quinta do Fojo, to lead with a point of advantage (3.5-2.5), the Portuguese sextet lost this Sunday by 1.5-4.5 on the six singles held at Citygolf.

The Portuguese Team was formed by Arnaldo Paredes (vice-captain), Hugo Espirito Santo, João Maria Pontes, Luis Bonito, Rui Maia and João Monteiro. The Portuguese captain was Antonio Vasconcelos.
The Spanish Team was formed by Jaime Herrera Garcia, Raul Toca Pedrajo, Thomas Artigas Covacevich, José Angel Perez Riñones, Juan Soler Espinosa and Jesus Casajus Gorostiaga. The Spanish captain was Antonio Esteban Jimenez.

The third victory of Portugal, winner in 2014 and 2016, was postponed. Spain won the previous edition in 2017, in Madrid, by 9-3. Spain won their 7th win in this Iberian P&P Match, that has been played since 2007, becoming one of the oldest Matches in continental Europe.
